For the past couple of months, health leaders have been sounding the alarm about the need for blood donations.
The push continued late last week as PA Physician General Dr. Denise Johnson says the critically low supply of blood in the state is an urgent problem.
She says blood donations are needed for a variety of reasons.
“If you or your family member have an accident and need a procedure, you may need a blood donation,” Johnson said. “Blood transfusions are used for people who have major surgeries to replace the blood that has been lost during their procedure.”
Dr. Johnson also adds that you’re still eligible to donate blood even if you’ve had the coronavirus.
