Republican Pennsylvania State House leaders have reacted with disappointment to the recent ruling by the state Supreme Court concerning the revised Congressional map.
Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler and House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff issued a joint statement that the choice of the so-called Carter plan for redistricting reflected a failure to “abide by the state and federal Constitutions”.
The leaders reaffirmed their contention that the map submitted by House and Senate Republicans was the only map to follow all constitutional guidelines.
This ruling would see all of Butler County returned to a single Congressional District but does not have any impact on the maps still being determined for state house and senate seats.
