The Republican Party in Pennsylvania has certified the new Chair of the Butler County Republican Committee.
In naming Gary Vanasdale to the position, the GOP effectively ends a dispute that began following the spring primary election.
The dispute began after a large number of new committee people were elected with a goal of reorganization. Prior leaders mounted a legal challenge that was decided in Vanasdale’s favor by the Butler County Court of Common Pleas earlier this month.
Gary Vanasdale will represent Butler County at all future state GOP meetings, while his wife Jen Gilliland Vanasdale was elected to be the group’s Solicitor. Butler County is home to over 76,000 registered Republican voters.
