The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association has released a set of “best practice” guidelines on how to handle police-involved shootings.
President of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association Dave Arnold says the recommendations seek to make police duties more transparent, and to help prevent some of the community unrest experienced by police departments in other parts of the country.
The guidelines cover controversial topics as whether an officer’s identity should be released following a shooting.
Governor Tom Wolf recently vetoed a bill that would have withheld an officer’s identity for 30 days unless that officer was charged.
