The union representing faculty and coaches at 14 state-owned universities presented a proposal Wednesday in an effort to prevent a strike.
The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties says it would accept a one-year interim agreement that includes a scheduled pay increase in January. Officials say that while this compromise does not address many of the faculty members’ concerns, it would help create some stability for the universities. They are trying to prevent a strike during the current school year.
The association represents about 6,000 faculty and coaches, including those at Slippery Rock University.
