Memorial Day is the perfect time to consider supporting local veterans and veteran memorials.
According to Acting Adjutant General for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Brigadier General Tony Carrelli, “The Pennsylvania Veterans Memorial is at the federal cemetery at Indiantown Gap. This memorial was established quite a while ago to honor all Pennsylvanians and all of our veterans who have served and done so much for our country. But over the years, weather and age have caused a number of repairs to be needed so we are asking the community for help.”
The state is collecting donations in order to help with the significant cosmetic and structural repairs needed at the memorial.
Those interested in contributing to the preservation of the memorial can go online here. All contributions will go to the repair efforts.
“Every dollar that’s gained will be a dollar that will help restore this facility and go to veterans programs,” Carrelli said.
An annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held at the memorial at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29.
