Two local municipalities will receive state funding to make improvements to parks.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority has approved a grant of nearly $213,000 to construct a restroom facility at Butler Township’s Preston Park. This project will include the instillation of a sanitary sewer and water line hookup as well as electrical service, seeding, mulching, and grading of the site. State Representative Marci Mustello helped secure this funding to make the total $250,000 cost of the project more affordable.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority also approved a $240,000 Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program grant to rehabilitate parking lots and walking trails at Freeport Community Park.
According to State Senator Joe Pittman, the Authority is able to make these grants through Marcellus Shale Impact Fee funding.
