Pennsylvania has committed up to $50 million to purchase medical equipment and supplies for hospitals, nursing homes, and emergency workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Tom Wolf says he knows hospitals will face capacity issues.
“We need more beds, ventilators, more personal protective equipment, and we need it as soon as possible because the virus is here,” Wolf said. The number of confirmed cases in the state continues to rise and currently sits just shy of 1,700 including 19 in Butler County. Wolf urged cooperation in order to slow the spread of the virus and save lives.”
“I am working to get this funding moving as quickly as I can,” Wolf said. “The reality is, we’re just seeing the beginning of this crisis. We don’t know how bad the surge will be or when this pandemic will end. We must prepare ourselves mentally and physically for the long haul.”
Wolf continued to urge Pennsylvanians to reduce the risk of additional transmission by eliminating situations of unnecessary exposure.
