With a potentially substantial snow storm bearing down on the Western Pennsylvania region, a couple state agencies are urging preparation and caution.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is asking motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during storm conditions which are anticipated to begin around 3 p.m. today. Speed restrictions are expected to be placed on many major roadways in the area and certain kinds of vehicles will be prohibited.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is alerting residents to the possibility of storm-related power outages. Supplies should be secured before outages, while during outages residents should use generators safely and check on elderly neighbors. Utility crews may be out working to repair storm damage so care and patience is urged in those areas.
