The South Butler County School District teachers strike continues.
The two sides met for a negotiation session Monday night which lasted about an hour. Members of the South Butler School Board and the teachers union communicated through a state mediator but could not come to an agreement.
There was also a short negotiation session between representatives of the South Butler School Board and the union representing the South Butler Support Staff. The board presented a formal contract proposal to those members but did not receive a response. No additional contract talks with either group have been scheduled at this time.
The district’s 168 teachers have been on strike since March 15. The teachers must return to the classroom on April 3 so students can receive the required 180 days of instruction by June 15.
