St. Luke Lutheran School in Cabot will be open Thursday despite water tests showing the presence of a “common bacteria” in the school’s water.
Principal Kelly Carney said the bacteria showed up on a monthly, routine water test, which is mandated by state law. Parents were notified.
Carney said she was advised by state officials that the school could remain open while using safety precautions. Bottled drinking water and hand sanitizer will be provided to students. The kitchen staff is also taking “appropriate safety measures.”
“The safety and well being of our students and staff are a top priority at St Luke Lutheran School,” Carney said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, we will continue with these recommendations until the test results are clear.”
