A western Pennsylvania health care system is expanding.
The St. Barnabas Health System has acquired a 175-acre site in New Brighton Township, Beaver County. It was the former headquarters of Michael Baker International.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
St. Barnabas plans to mirror what they have created in Gibsonia and Valencia…in Beaver County. Retirement living apartments, carriage homes, assisted living facilities and rehab services will be built on the site.
St. Barnabas currently operates the St. Barnabas Beaver Meadows living assistance facility on Tuscarawas Road in Beaver. It is a 75-bed living assistance facility located at the old Tusca drive-in theater property.
Michael Baker International is headquartered in downtown Pittsburgh and also has offices in Moon Township. The company’s Beaver County property was a prior location in the firm’s nearly 80-year history.
St. Barnabas has three retirement communities, five assisted living facilities, two skilled nursing homes, home care, hospice and a community outpatient medical and dental center. Facilities are located in Butler and Beaver counties. The system also provides more than $7 million in free care through the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund.
