Slippery Rock University defensive end Marcus Martin has been named the Super Region I defensive player of the year by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette. Martin was named a first-team All-Region player as well. Wide receiever Marcus Johnson was named to the first team at wide receiver, and second team as a return specialist. Rock offensive guard Ian Park was named to the second team as well. Quarterback Tanner Garry and wide receiver Milli Raye were named to the third team.Gannon running back Marc Jones was named the offensive player of the year. IUP head coach Paul Tortorella was named coach of the year.
The Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2018 schedule Wednesday. Pitt will face five teams that finished in the Associated Press Top 25. Pitt will host #8 Penn State and #24 Virginia Tech, while travelling to play #6 Central Florida, #11 Notre Dame and #13 Miami. The Panthers open their season September 1st by hosting Albany.
