It’s the first day on the job for Slippery Rock University’s next president.
Dr. William Behre is the school’s 17th president. He last worked at a small, private school in New Jersey, but he lived in eastern Pennsylvania for 16 years.
He posted a message on Twitter for students, faculty and the community on Monday morning.
“Today is my first official day on the job, but my wife and I arrived on campus about a week ago,” he said. “In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to learning more about the traditions, strengths and aspirations of ‘The Rock’ community.”
The path to a new president at SRU was not an easy one. University officials started the search process at the beginning of 2017, but the board of trustees couldn’t come to a decision. The search process was restarted last fall.
