Over 500 junior high and high school students will present the results of science research projects at an event this weekend at Slippery Rock University.
The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science is holding the 60th annual Region IX meeting Saturday in the Smith Student Center Ballroom. A welcome address is scheduled for 11 a.m. and an awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. with remarks from SRU President Dr. Cheryl Norton.
Students will compete for nearly $25,000 in scholarships from SRU as well as additional cash awards or gift certificates from the Region IX committee and other program sponsors.
Participants who receive a first place rating will have the chance to present their projects at the state competition this May at Penn State.
