The number of new college graduates with a teaching degree is falling in Pennsylvania. So, Slippery Rock University is trying to target a different demographic other than traditional students.
SRU is promoting their graduate programs in secondary education for those who are looking at changing careers. They say those who have bachelor degrees in history, math, science, and English are prime candidates to join the graduate program.
The programs can be done either online or in-person and generally can be finished in one calendar year.
A recent study found that the Commonwealth is issuing 66 percent fewer teacher certifications than it did just a year ago.
