Some Slippery Rock University graduate student volunteers will be fundraising for a worthy cause this weekend.
The Harrisville Superhero 5K is hosted by SRU physician assistant students and will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harrisville Community Park.
Participants and volunteers will be dressed as superheroes during the 5K and one mile walk for people with and without special needs. This disability-friendly event will include sidekicks pushing wheelchairs or running beside some of the competitors.
Proceeds from the race will be donated to the non-profit Sewickley-based Laughlin Children’s Center. Registration for the event is open to the public at $30 per person, $20 for students, and competitors with special needs are free. Race day registration begins at 9 a.m.
