Slippery Rock University is teaming up with U.S. Representative Mike Kelly to host the 2016 Congressional Art Competition this weekend.
The reception and awards ceremony is a showcase for high school students. It will be held Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at SRU’s Martha Gault Art Gallery.
Rep. Kelly and SRU President Dr. Cheryl Norton will be among the speakers at the event.
The winning student will have the chance to exhibit work at the U.S. Capitol and receive two plane tickets to Washington D.C. for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Second and third place finishers will have their work displayed at Rep. Kelly’s office at the Capitol.
The Congressional Art Competition is an annual contest sponsored by the Congressional Institute to recognize and encourage artistic talent.
