Slippery Rock University is receiving state funding to go toward their special education training program.
State Representative Tim Bonner says the $100,000 grant will allow the university to pair with a local district in helping college students get experience and training in special education.
“It pleases me to see one of the top schools in the state receive the funding necessary to bolster the state’s special education workforce,” Bonner said in a statement. “Special education teachers impact the lives of students by giving them the tools and resources to learn according to their learning style.”
The grants were awarded to colleges and universities with approved PreK-12 special education certification programs.
