A local university has been recognized for their efforts in helping former service men and women with their education.
Victory Media, a group that helps individuals transition from active duty to civilian life, named Slippery Rock University a 2016 Military Friendly School .
According to the group, SRU earned the honor for support of post-military students.
In addition to a Veteran’s memorial, a Medal of Honor room, and classes dedicated to military science, Slippery Rock also offers equine-assisted recreational therapy for veterans at their equestrian center.
