The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team defeated Edinboro 64-60 on the road last night. The victory keeps hopes alive for the Rock to host a PSAC tournament game with one game remaining. The Rock will need a victory Saturday at Pitt-Johnstown, and a Gannon victory over Mercyhurst. Mercyhurst fell to California in double overtime last night. The Rock will meet the Lakers in a first round game next week, with the home team to be determined with Saturday’s final games of the regular season.
The Rock women fell to Edinboro 90-46 last night, but were led by Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson, who came off the bench to score a career-high 11 points and added six rebounds.
The Pitt men’s basketball team fell to Wake Forest 63-59 last night in North Carolina. The Panthers had built a 19-point lead in the second half after leading at halftime 36-24. The Panthers fell to 15-13 overall. They host North Carolina Saturday at noon.
