Homecoming festivities will continue as planned this weekend at Slippery Rock University in Butler County despite a strike by members of the school’s faculty union.
Members of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties union are expected out on the picket lines for a third day.
Representatives from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education said Thursday that while there are no formal negotiating sessions underway, the system is “working hard to find a path forward.”
Students in all 14 state schools have been instructed to attend all their classes, internships and work study jobs as they normally would. Student services will remain open.
Faculty members will not get paid or receive healthcare benefits until they return to work.
