The Slippery Rock University Football team (ranked #20 nationally in Division II) beat Mercyhurst in Erie on Saturday by a final of 35-24.
Pacing the Green and White’s Offense was Shamar Greene, who ran for 167 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. Julian Durden also added onto the impressive rushing effort, running for 65 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Quarterback Dante Nania also had a solid game, finishing with 154 yards on 16 completions and one touchdown.
Defensively for The Rock, linebacker Teven Williams led all defenders in tackles with 11, along with a sack and an interception. All-American defensive lineman Marcus Martin also helped the defensive effort by collecting ten tackles, three for a loss, and two sacks.
Slippery Rock will be back in action on Saturday, as they will host rival IUP under the lights. Pregame will start at 5:30pm on The Rock Station 97.7FM and on 977rocks.com.
