The Slippery Rock University football team moved back up a spot to #9 this week in the national Division II rankings. The Rock is coming off a 31-28 victory over California, and clinched the PSAC-West. More importantly, The Rock remained the #2 seed in their region. The top seven in the regional rankings would enter the NCAA playoffs. As of now, Slippery Rock would host a first-round playoff game.
Slippery Rock will visit Gannon this week to complete their regular season. They will visit Kutztown the following week in the state championship game.
Three Rock players have been honored by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference this week. Quarterback Roland Rivers III was named the Western Division Offensive Player of the Week. Dalton Holt was named Defensive Player of the Week. Jake Chapla was named Special Teams Player of the Week. Chapla hit the game-winning field goal as time expired in the Cal victory.
