Despite winning their season-opening game last week, the Slippery Rock University football team has fallen from the number-five spot in Division II, to number eight. SRU defeated Wayne State 24-21 with a late goal-line stand in Detroit. The Rock will open their home schedule this Saturday against East Stroudsburg.
Alabama remains college football’s number-one team, but Georgia has jumped to #2 in the Associated Press weekly poll after defeating Clemson. Ohio State moved up to third, followed by Oklahoma, who fell two spots. Texas A&M is now fifth. Clemson fell from third to sixth. Penn State has jumped to #11 after their season-opening win at Wisconsin.
