A local university celebrated the achievements of their students and a faculty member on Saturday during their Winter Commencement.
Slippery Rock University graduated approximately 550 students of various programs and degrees at their semi-annual commencement.
Also during the event, assistant professor of safety management Wilma Cavill was received an honorary doctorate degree for public service.
Cavaill spent the past 57 years as a student turned professor at the university. Additionally, she served as a gymnastics coach at the university during her first six years as a professor.
