February is Black History Month and Slippery Rock University has many events scheduled to mark the occasion.
The theme of Remember and Reclaim will give students the opportunity to explore Civil Rights accomplishments, while also discussing issues of inequality today.
More than ten events will be presented throughout the month, including a keynote address by author Kevin Powell on Feb. 16, Soul Food Sunday on February 21, a poetry slam Feb. 22, and a business day Feb. 24.
Also, an art exhibit will be on display through Feb. 25 in SRU’s Martha Gault Gallery featuring David C. Driskell and Curlee Holton from the University of Maryland.
