This week has been designated as “Pollinator Week” in the state of Pennsylvania.
The House of Representatives adopted this measure to raise awareness of the rapid decline of bee populations which has a negative impact on agriculture.
State Democratic Representative Rob Matzie of Beaver and Allegheny Counties also introduced legislation that would establish regulations for honey sold in the state.
The current system of identifying the quality of honey sold here is voluntary and often results in products that are not pure honey being identified as pure.
