There were two special elections in Butler County during Tuesday’s primary.
One of the races was for the 11th state House District to replace former State Rep. Brian Ellis, who resigned earlier this year following allegations of sexual assault.
Republican Marci Mustello and Democrat Sam Doctor were the two candidates. Mustello has served under U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-16) for the past eight years. Doctor is a 28-year-old third-generation steel worker.
UPDATE:
According to unofficial results, Mustello will go on to defeat Doctor with 57.23 percent of the vote. Mustello received 5,808 votes to Doctor’s 4,312.

At 9:45 p.m., with 57 of 89 precincts reporting unofficial results, Mustello maintains her lead with 4,746 votes to Doctor’s 3,330.

At 9 p.m., with 20 of 89 precincts reporting results, Mustello had the early lead with 1,850 votes, to Doctor’s 1,445.
