The Butler BlueSox defeated the Chillicothe Paints 8-3 last night and have closed to within a half game of the first-place Champion City Kings. Patrick Ferguson hit his 14th home run of the season and has broken the BlueSox all-time home run mark for a season. Connor Coward allowed two runs on four hits over six innings for his fourth victory of the season. He did not walk a batter and struck out five.
The victory was Butler’s seventh straight at home. The Sox are now 24-19 overall, while Champion City fell 4-3 to West Virginia and are now 24-18.
The Sox and the Paints play again tonight at 6:35pm.
