A group of local leaders in the southwestern corridor of the county are touting a collaborative effort to curb flooding in the region.
The project has been underway over the last three years to tackle flooding problems that have plagued the southwestern region of the county.
10 different municipalities have been involved in the effort, which now has identified five major projects and 25 other issues that officials say will help bring a solution to flooding in the region.
“I think what’s happened here is that we’ve developed an effective regional entity,” Don Pepe, Zelienople Borough Manager said. “It has done more than anything possible than anyone thought.”
County commissioners say that with new federal dollars on the table for projects, it’s a big advantage that the proposals are fleshed out and shovel ready.
