Contract negotiations between the South Butler School Board and the teachers union will continue next month.
According to solicitor Tom Breth, the board provided 20 dates in October and November that they would be willing to meet and the Pennsylvania State Education Association said that November 15th was the only one that worked for them. A message left for the Association representative handing the negotiations was not immediately returned.
The board submitted a formal offer to the union on September 8th and two sides last met for questions and discussion on September 27th. Since the last meeting, South Butler Board members have met with a member of the Slippery Rock School board to get information about the contract recently agreed to in that district.
Wage increases, the structure of healthcare plans, and retroactive pay distribution are the main issues of the ongoing talks. South Butler teachers have been working without a contract since the end of June 2014.
