The South Butler School District and its teachers’ union continue to disagree as it inches closer to four years since the two sides had a contract.
The latest bargaining session was last week but no formal proposals were exchanged and no dates for additional negotiating sessions were scheduled.
According to an update issued by the school board, the two sides had an “open, respectful, and productive discussion” although the parties still have “substantial differences.”
Brooke Witt, who is the chief negotiator for the union, characterized the talks as neither productive nor counterproductive. She did say the union is waiting to hear back from the school board about formal proposals made during the session before this most recent one.
The last contract between the two sides expired June 30, 2014.
