The South Butler teacher contract arbitration panel has issued their award meaning that an agreement could be in place as soon as both sides are able to take a vote.
South Butler School Board solicitor Tom Breth confirmed that the three member panel unanimously approved the report and submitted it to both sides on Tuesday. The panel is made up of neutral attorney David Breen, attorney Tom King representing the South Butler School Board, and negotiator Pat Andrekovich representing the teachers.
Each side now has ten days in which to vote to either accept or reject the award. South Butler School Board already had a meeting scheduled for Wednesday night so they will discuss the details and possibly could vote. If not, a vote will definitely be taken next Wednesday (6/13). Details of the award will be made public if and when a vote is taken by the board.
According to PSEA Representative Brooke Witt, members of the South Butler Teachers Association negotiating team will take a closer look at the proposal in order to make a presentation to teachers before a vote planned for next week.
