Representatives from the South Butler School Board and the teacher’s union continue to try to find common ground in off-the-record sidebar contract talks.
According to an update released by the district’s solicitor, the latest effort to reach a collective bargaining agreement was a two hour session last Wednesday (4/19).
Representatives continued sidebar discussions that started last month to allow for a less formal exchange of ideas than was happening in the regular negotiations. No formal proposals were exchanged but the board hopes to have a deal in place soon to allow for new health plan coverage to begin July 1st.
The board plans to reevaluate their positions and provide the teachers with a revised comprehensive proposal at the next bargaining session scheduled for Monday, May 1st. A request for comment from the Pennsylvania State Education Association representative handing the South Butler negotiations was not immediately returned.
