The South Butler School Board has rejected both the Butler County Vocational Technical School and Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV budgets.
The board voted against the Vo-Tech budget for the third year in a row, this year by a 6-2 margin. South Butler’s share is almost $450,000 of a 2016-2017 budget of just over $5 million.
This was the first year that the board voted against approval for the MIU IV budget, also by a 6-2 margin. South Butler’s share is almost $39,000 of a 2016-2017 budget of just over $4 million.
Board President Nelda Burd said that she appreciated the services that both facilities provided for South Butler students but she can’t support background financial issues of both schools.
The budgets can still pass and South Butler will be obligated to pay their share if the budgets are ratified by the majority of the other districts involved in the collective.
