The South Butler School Board has committed not to increase their tax millage rate for next year above the index set by the state.
The board made the decision by unanimous vote Wednesday night, which locks them in to a maximum millage increase of just over 2.9 mils, although it could be lower.
South Butler Superintendent Dr. David Zupsic said the budget for 2017-18 is currently in the very preliminary planning stages.
One factor that could affect the budget is the ongoing contract negotiations with the teacher’s union. The next bargaining session is scheduled for Thursday evening (1/12).
