Butler City Police have filed charges against a man accused of stealing money from a restaurant downtown.
The owners of Pizza Joes on North Main Street notified police on June 2nd that they suspected their son, 24-year-old Shane Bates had been stealing money from the business. Multiple night alarms had been triggered the week before and nearly $1,000 was missing from the register.
Police reviewed video surveillance footage which showed Bates entering the business while it was closed and turning off the security system on at least two different occasions.
Bates has been charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking.
