Nearly 2,000 Butler County residents started the New Year without power.
As the clock neared midnight on Monday night, steady rain and high winds brought down power lines and tree limbs.
Calls for downed wires continued throughout the night and into Tuesday morning.
At one point, as many as 1,600 West Penn Power customers were without service. Most of the outages were quickly restored, with some lingering through early this morning.
