Even though reports vary widely about how much snow we may get this weekend, there is a lot you can do to be ready for any winter storm.
According to the PA Department of Agriculture, animals kept in below-freezing temperatures can suffer from hypothermia and possibly frostbite. Frozen drinking water can cause animals to suffer from dehydration.
Farmers should make plans for impassible roads including working with suppliers in advance of storms to coordinate delivery of essential items and making plans for snow removal from private lanes.
Finally, people can check roofs for excessive snow buildup and make sure backup generators are fueled up and functional.
