While the focus on 2020 has been centered around presidential politics, a Cranberry man has announced his candidacy for Congress.
Daniel Smith Jr. says he’s seeking the Democratic nomination for the 16th Congressional District—currently held by Rep. Mike Kelly.
Smith previously ran for a seat in the state house against Darryl Metcalfe in 2017.
He also was the Democratic nominee for Prothonotary this fall, but has since withdrawn his name from the ballot. Smith said Butler County Democrats are choosing his replacement at a meeting tonight. Kelly Ferrari won the Republican nomination for prothonotary this spring.
