The Slippery Rock University football team maintained their undefeated record (3-0) after hosting Millersville University at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium Saturday night, winning by a final of 75-0.
Although the game was delayed for nearly an hour due to lightning, The Rock still came out red hot, scoring 31 points in the first half alone. Their biggest quarter of the game though was the fourth quarter, when the team ran for two touchdowns and scored two defensive touchdowns on back to back plays. The defense also recorded a safety in the first quarter.
Offensively for SRU, senior quarterback Dante Nania led the offensive effort with 192 yards on 11 completions with two touchdowns. Dominic Dingle, Julian Durden, and Isiah Neely led the hot rushing attack, combining for 368 yards and six touchdowns.
Defensively, linebacker Bob Vernick from Butler High School led the way with seven tackles and one and a half sacks, along with the safety to start the game. All-American Marcus Martin also helped the defensive effort by collecting eight tackles, and also registering one and a half sacks.
Slippery Rock will be on the road this week as they will travel to Seton Hill. The game can be heard on The Rock Station 97.7 and on 977rocks.com. Pregame will start at 2:30pm with the Dr. George Mihalik Show, with the kickoff to follow at 3pm.
