February is Black History Month and Slippery Rock University has numerous programs planned to mark the occasion.
This year’s theme of Milestones: Walking Through Black History will explore the achievements of Black Americans throughout history.
More than 20 in-person and virtual activities will include a presentation about Negro League baseball player Josh Gibson on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the SSC Theater as well as African American Heritage Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Morrow Field House.
Other activities sponsored by SRU’s Office for Inclusive Excellence this month include the Ebony Ball on February 11th and Black History Month Keynote Speaker Christopher Jackson who played the original George Washington in the musical Hamilton on February 20th.
