Slippery Rock has received national recognition for being one of the safest college towns in the country.
Safety and Home Security Company SafeWise ranked Slippery Rock 15th on a list of the 30 safest college towns.
FBI crime statistics from 2014 were used to make the determination based on factors like number of crimes committed and population as well as available educational programs about health and safety.
Edinboro was ranked 17th, Clarion 20th, and Millersville came in at 22nd. Winona State University in Minnesota was named the safest college town and campus.
