A local fire department and EMS will be receiving state grant funding.
According to state representative Jaret Gibbons, Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and EMS are among the first responders to be awarded money from the Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant.
The Slippery Rock Fire Company will receive nearly $14,000 while Slippery Rock EMS has been awarded over $7,000.
According to Gibbons, the money can be used for repairing, building, or renovating facilities as well as the purchase of new equipment, training, or maintenance.
