Kevin Shields from the Club at Nevillewood overcame Tuesday’s heat and first-round leader Tony Traci of the South Hills Country Club to win the Tri-State PGA Championship. The two-day event was held at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray. Shields a pair of 69’s to finish at 6-under for the title, one stroke better than Traci. The victory qualifies Shields for the PGA Professional National Championship in Verona, New York next June.
Connor White of Gibsonia was the low medalist in the Dr. Charles Cuden Memorial Junior Tournament held this week at Green Oaks Country Club. He shot a round of even par-71. James Ellis of Butler had the low round of 74 in the Boys 15-16 year old age group.
