The Butler County Sheriff’s office is warning of a text message scam circulating the state.
The scammer sends a message acting as the Postal Service or FedEx and tells the recipient that their package can’t be delivered until they update their personal information.
The link on the text sends the person to a near exact replica of the USPS website. Officials say that an unsuspecting victim could easily be fooled into entering their personal information.
Sheriff Mike Slupe warns residents to always question and scrutinize unsolicited calls, e-mails, and text messages.
If you feel you may have fallen victim to a scam, Slupe asks you to contact local law enforcement.
