Some residents try to beat the heat by heading to the pool or finding air conditioning, but some have been using the Diamond Park water fountain.
The Butler County’s sheriff’s office was called earlier this week after a group of people were playing in the fountain and damaged some of the nozzle heads.
Sheriff Mike Slupe says the group was apologetic, but there is a safety concern with people playing in a concrete structure “that was never made for public entertainment.”
Slupe adds that water flow was shut off briefly to prevent damage to the pump. The fountain has been turned back on and is operating.
