A Butler County Deputy Sheriff has been let go following criminal charges that he assaulted multiple people earlier this year.
53-year-old Mark Kowaleski of Natrona Heights was charged with eight counts of Indecent Assault without Consent stemming from an incident in late February.
According to charging documents, Kowaleski was off-duty when he visited a home located on the 300 block of American Avenue in Butler City and brought alcohol and his hand cuffs.
While victims said he was initially not an issue, police say Kowaleski soon started showing women nude photographs and began touching them inappropriately.
Sheriff Slupe said he learned of the investigation on February 27th and placed Kowaleski on administrative leave. Following a hearing this morning, Kowaleski was fired from his position.
He had been in the Sheriff’s office since December 2023.
