Late last week Governor Josh Shapiro signed an executive order to help making housing in the Commonwealth more affordable.
Shapiro’s executive order aims at creating the first Housing Action Plan to address homelessness, housing shortages, and expand affordable housing actions.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and Department of Human Services will conjunction to expand efforts in more affordable housing.
This will include expanding Property tax/rent rebates, doubling funding for affordable housing, increasing homeless assistance programs, and doubling investing so businesses invest in more affordable housing.
According to a release from Shapiro’s office, the Housing Action Plan will be data-driven.
